**Position Summary:**

As a member of Security Architecture, Engineering and Alliance team in Sallie Mae Corporate Security, you will provide information security technical leadership, expertise and inside-consultancy to systems analysis, software engineering and business application development functions, supporting and enabling teams to achieve secure-by-design objective.

**Key Responsibilities:**

**Design Converging Architecture and Capabilities to ensure durable controls and economies of scale objectives are maintained (40%)**

+ Review business requirements for security implications and design road map of reference architectures to solve and support the business goals
+ Review user stories, features and EPIC
+ Participate in the program increment (PI) planning sessions, meet with the product owners and technical architects supporting each business functions to identify secure-by-design requirements and provide technical support to the teams to achieve secure-by-design objective.

**Implement and maintain Continuous Secure Application Development process and supporting tools and knowledge-base (30%)**

+ Maintain Repository Manager to receive new software distributions from trustworthy sources, coordinate automatic and systematic security scans to ensure the software is free of malware and known flaws
+ Coordinate and deliver secure-by-design training and awareness to systems analysis, software engineering and application development community

**Provide inside-consultancy to application development, security operations and business capability evaluation functions (30%)**

+ Maintain understanding of latest customer authentication methods, frictionless digital servicing interfaces and tools commensurate with banking and financial services industry
+ Coordinate and lead security architecture and engineering components of projects

+ You will need strong analytical skills, communication skills both verbal and written, and ability to make architectural decisions on incomplete set of business requirements in certain cases.



+ Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Technology or other related area field and/or equivalent work experience.
+ A minimum of 10 years progressive experience working in application and system development environment, or related IT consulting environment
+ Proven project management and leadership skills and experience with agile system development life cycle
+ Must have 5+ years of hands-on programming experience -- C variants, java, javascript, .Net, python and associated build engines. Single page architecture experience such as clojurescript and Go a big plus
+ Must be able to interpret common Software Development Kits (SDKs) and their incorporation into business applications -- for example RSA cipher library, Apple iOS, Google android
+ Must be a good communicator both orally and written, be able to clearly articulate corporate security strategy and direction to multiple levels technical and managerial


+ Regulated industry experience (e.g., FFIEC, SEC/FINRA)
+ Master's degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science desirable
+ Distributed operating system, compiler design experience (e.g., C, java, javascript)
+ Static code analysis, dynamic code analysis experience (e.g., Fortify, Coverity, VeraCode)
+ Automated system deployment tools experience (e.g., Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform)
+ Online usage and analysis experience (e.g., Adobe Omniture, DoubleClick, Google Analytics)
